### Discovering the Joy of Homemade Ranch Dressing
My wife hails from Texas, a place where ranch dressing is considered a culinary staple. Before I met her, I had never encountered ranch as a topping for pizza, chicken, salads, steak, or even potatoes. In her world, buttermilk dressing reigns supreme.
Initially, I struggled to embrace her passion for ranch dressing—until I decided to create my own version from scratch.
Traditionally, store-bought ranch has felt overly rich for my taste. Unless there was a specific need to mask the flavors of my meal, I typically avoided it. However, this homemade rendition offers a more balanced flavor profile.
The creamy buttermilk combines beautifully with fresh herbs like parsley and chives and hints of dill. While the sour cream and mayonnaise provide that signature tanginess we all love in ranch dressing, it’s not overwhelming.
Although my wife missed some of the boldness found in commercial versions of ranch dressing, she still devoured nearly an entire bowl! Surprisingly enough, this experience turned me into a fan as well! Who knows? The next time we order pizza together; I might just whip up another batch for dipping!
