Hello, friends! It’s Liz from Love Grows Wild, and I’m thrilled to share another delightful recipe with you! With Thanksgiving fast approaching, my thoughts are swirling with festive food ideas. Just last week, I posted a variety of holiday recipes on my blog—everything from savory roasted fall vegetables to a slow cooker butter & herb turkey (yes, I cook my turkey in a slow cooker!), and even some scrumptious pecan pie muffins. You could say I’m completely immersed in holiday cooking! And let’s not forget the incredible green bean casserole featuring fresh mushrooms and homemade crispy onion strings that I shared during my last visit here! At this rate, I might just gain 20 pounds this season! To keep the holiday spirit alive, today I’m excited to present an irresistible recipe for Orange and Lime Cranberry Sauce!

To be honest, cranberry sauce wasn’t something I enjoyed growing up; we typically had the canned version that didn’t quite appeal to me. However, once I began exploring cooking on my own, I decided it was time to make homemade cranberry sauce—and wow did it open up a whole new world of flavor for me! Fresh cranberries are bursting with taste and have such vibrant color; they’re also incredibly easy to prepare.

Making this cranberry sauce is as simple as combining all the ingredients in a saucepan and cooking until the cranberries pop open and the mixture thickens into a syrupy delight. That’s really all there is to it! The best part? You can prepare this dish 2-3 days ahead of your gathering and store it in the refrigerator until you’re ready for serving—perfect for stress-free meal prep!

While traditional cranberry sauce is tasty on its own, adding zesty lime and orange elevates it beyond amazing! Not only does this addition infuse wonderful citrus flavors into your dish but also creates an eye-catching presentation. Just sprinkle some extra orange zest over those ruby-red berries before serving; your guests will surely be impressed by your stunning creation!

Ingredients:

  • ¾ pound fresh cranberries
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon grated lime zest
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberries, brown sugar, water, and cloves.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer while stirring occasionally until the skins of the cranberries burst open and it thickens into syrup (about 10 minutes).
  3. Stir in lime zest, orange zest, lime juice, orange juice; season with salt according to taste.
  4. Remove cloves from mixture; allow cranberry sauce to cool at room temperature before serving.
  5. For an elegant touch when presenting your dish at dinner parties or gatherings: garnish with additional orange zest.
